Sea-cession: Atlas Island, nouveau bébé du Seasteading Institute

Patri Friedman & co lancent un nouveau projet de colonisation des mers dans un but autonomiste et libertaire: Atlas Island, un projet de foule en trois étapes sur une dizaine d'années (projeté):

- former la tribu, en rassemblant (en ligne) les candidats à l'aventure, pour semer les graines de la future société

- assembler ce petit monde, chacun sur son embarcation, dans une marina de Floride, et comencer la construction de structures centrales communes aptes à résider dans l'océan

- détacher le grand radeau pour aller écumer les mers, avant de faire officiellement sécession

 

L'approche est un hybride entre le New Hampshire Project et Burning Man, sur l'eau. Comparé aux précédentes tentatives, ça me paraît plus agoristo-compatible, non ?

Je navigue pun intended entre l'envie de savoir si c'est sérieux ou une arnaque, et demander combien de liborgiens penseraient à s'inscrire, juste pour voir?

Je crois que l'idée c'est qu'on utilise le bateau à tour de rôle.

Parce que effectivement les vacances en bateau, pour le manque d'intimité tu peux pas faire pire.

Oui, exactement comme un appart à la montagne pour les vacances de ski. Chaque participant a droit à une occupation (exclusive) au pro-rata de sa participation.

Dear Atlas Island members,

I hope you are all safe and enjoying the start of spring. It's been a few months since our last update but a lot has been going on since then!

We'd like to announce, in the spirit of seasteading competition, that Atlas Island is being forked into two separate projects: the new Atlas Island and Ethos Island. Atlas Island will be led by Mason Leschyna while Ethos Island will be led by Jan Spiekermann and Will Otey. The primary difference between the two projects is that the new Atlas Island has committed to a business-like approach in a manner similar to Free Private Cities while Ethos Island will be focused on a state-like approach in a manner similar to micronations.

Ethos Island is currently developing a website and, once it has launched, we will send you a link so you can read more about the project and sign up to their mailing list.

Please check out the updated Atlas Island website (www.AtlasIsland.org). We have revised the plan to be a hybrid between the Seasteading and Free Private Cities models and I am confident that our approach will bring together the best of both worlds! We have also developed a more detailed five-stage plan.

In addition to our plans to launch in Florida, I have been actively researching other possible locations including Prospera, a Free Private City currently being developed on Roatan. This project has a similar ideological framework and thus there is a great opportunity for collaboration. This location would not only be open to international residents but would also offer significantly more freedom than most other countries. Over the past weeks, I have spoken with the developers and there is a potential for us to build a marina there!

Lastly, we will have volunteer leadership roles opening up soon, so please stay tuned if you'd like to be more involved with the decision-making process. We're looking for boots on the ground to get started doing technical, legal, and financial research for each marina location in order to make Atlas Island an investment-ready project.
