Guantanamo Bay detainee Mamdouh Habib was tied to the ground while a prostitute menstruated on him after he failed to co-operate with interrogators, his lawyer said yesterday.

Interrogators also told the Sydney man they had killed his family and superimposed animals' heads on photos of his wife and children, Mr Habib's lawyer Steven Hopper said yesterday.

Bah, une blague d'étudiant quoi

The Federal Government said it was aware of similar allegations of torture made by former British detainees at Guantanamo Bay but it was the first time the Government had heard the claims involving Mr Habib.

Mr Habib is due back in Sydney within a fortnight after the US said it would release him without charge despite holding him for more than three years on suspicion he knew about the September 11 attacks and trained with al-Qaeda.

Tortured with prostitute

After touching down on British soil the four Britons were arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000, suspected of involvement in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

Sir John Stevens, the Metropolitan police commissioner who made the decision to arrest, said: "The intelligence and the information was put to me over the weekend," he said. "I have no other option but to arrest them. If their answers are satisfactory, then they will be released as soon as we can arrange it."

(…)

Intelligence officials suggested yesterday there was no evidence to suggest any of the four presented a security threat. They expected all four to be released quickly, but insisted that the length of detention was up to the police.

Mais que contient cette "intelligence and information" qui ne laisse pas le choix que de les arrêter mais qui ne contient aucun indice permettant de penser qu'ils présentent une menace?

The four flew back to Britain on an RAF-C-17 military aircraft, accompanied by Scotland Yard anti-terrorist officers and two independent observers, one a Muslim. Police videoed the flight to guard against claims of ill treatment. (so much for the three years in Gitmo!)

Up to 550 Muslim men remain in Guantánamo, including at least six British residents who the government has declined to represent.

Je préfère encore ne pas être représenté par un gouvernement pareil.

Isolation, breakdown and mysterious injections

Vous savez que ces actes ont été commis contre des citoyens européens?

Perso j'attends quelques années pour savoir ce qui s'est vraiment passé là-bas;

A lot of the people picked up by warlords of the Northern Alliance were kept in metal shipping containers, so tightly packed that they had to ball themselves up, and the heat was unbearable. According to some detainees who were held in the containers and eventually released from Guantánamo, only a small number, thirty to fifty people in a container filled with three to four hundred people survived. And some of those released said that the Americans were in on this, that the Americans were shining lights on the containers. The people inside were suffocating, so the Northern Alliance soldiers shot holes into the containers, killing some of the prisoners inside.
Ratner notes that 134 of the 147 prisoners later released from Guantánamo were guilty of absolutely nothing.
Ratner reports that the Guantánamo interrogators showed some of his clients videotapes supposedly depicting them with Osama bin Laden. At first they denied being in the videos, but they confessed after prolonged interrogation under harsh conditions. Yet British intelligence proved to the American government that the men were actually in the United Kingdom when the tapes were made.
