  2. L'existence des Guardian Angels :
  3. Lu sur Twitter : John Cutting My Chicago PD story: When I was a teenager, I was robbed at gunpoint while delivering pizzas. I was unharmed. I lost my empty wallet and a bunch of pizzas, but I was obviously shaken up and filed a police report. A few weeks later, I was asked to come in to look at the lineup to see if I can identify the robber. The lineup turned out to be just a bunch of photos in a notebook down at the police station. I got a good look at my assailant and I was confident that none of the photos were him After I told the police officer that I didn't see him in the photos, he kept asking me to look again. He would use different phrases like "take a fresh look." Eventually he started tapping on a specific photo and kept asking me to try again over and over I firmly told him no, noted his name, and walked into the front office to file a complaint about his behavior. He was trying to pressure me to lie about a suspect that clearly had not robbed me. This was about 10 AM. They kept me waiting around because they "needed a lieutenant" Around 3:00 p.m, I eventually made a big enough fuss that they got me the proper paperwork, but they made me speak to a lieutenant before I filed it. The lieutenant spent the next two hours trying to convince me that I didn't see what I saw. He made a big show about it. He accused me of being unreliable. My brother had a criminal record, and I was clearly biased against police. Eventually he took the form and promised to file it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it immediately went to the trash after I left. I told my father about this whole experience, and he talked to a family friend (and my future father in law) who worked as an accountant at the DA's office. They both advised me to quit my job, sell the car or report it stolen, and lay low for a while. When I asked why... My future father-in-law said, "because they're probably going to hide weed in your car, arrest you, and discredit your complaint." The way he said it was chilling because he said it as if he was explaining something that was very obvious to a dimwitted child. Instead, I moved out of Chicago forever a few days later. However, that event has followed me around ever since. When I read reports about officers with 9 prior excessive force complaints slamming a teenage girl's head to the ground... JPSO deputy who slammed Black woman's head on the pavement named in 9 excessive force lawsuits This article was produced for ProPublica’s Local Reporting Network in partnership with WRKF, WWNO and The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate. Minneapolis Police Caught on Video 'Hunting' Activists Local civil rights leaders demand firings, denounce “terrorism at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department” https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/minneapolis-police-video-hunting-activists-jaleel-stallings-1241227/ And the officials that have the power to change it will just shrug their shoulders (as my father-in-law did) and feign helplessness to hold public servants accountable. Policing in America can be saved. We have plenty of examples all over the world on how to do it, but we've been going the wrong direction since I was a teenager. My father-in-law was a coward; he had no incentive to act. Policing won't change unless we make change the only option (and I'm muting this thread since I'm already getting threatening DMs) One more thing, tearing down the system and replacing it with something better is 'saving it.' We shouldn't also forget to take a hard look at the other stakeholders (like my father-in-law) and hold them accountable too.
