alors que 4chan fait partie du top 2500 au niveau des fréquentations des sites webs, et que la population moyenne est plus proche de l'otaku qui regarde du porno que du Guy Fawkes wannabe…

L'incompétence du FBI est vraiment sidérante, je n'imagine même pas comment on peut accepter de leur confier la sécurité d'un pays entier…

The FBI didn't even have the ability to investigate 4chan at their offices because of their porn blockers. They couldn't even look at the site before affying to a magistrate that a threat appearing thereon would be credible and believable by a reasonable person. They asked for a fax of a few "representative pages" to get some idea of what the site was, which they received AFTER they submitted the affidavit. The affidavit itself contains nothing more than a baseless reiteration of the defendant's own confessions and descriptions, falsely stated as dilligently investigated fact by the ignorant affiant. The affidavit itself is thin, but far thicker than what they had before faxing the threat to the NFL, before they had even done the most basic of investigative ground-work. The entire affair is a total farce, an expensive replica of imitation competence paid for by your tax dollars, and a terrifying parade of self-preservational beaurofear.

They fucked up by faxing the information of the threat to the NFL before properly investigating it. Now they're putting a dumbass kid grocery clerk in jail to cover their own incompetent waste of resources and gross lack of investigative dilligence. Sure, in all likelihood, he won't see jail time. He'll get probation or a light sentence, probably at great personal expense. If he does go in the slammer, he'll be jailed not for his actions but for the sake of preserving face at the FBI.

Don't mistake me; who cares about the kid? He can be shot in the face for all I care. What I care about is the institution that set this hollow snowball in motion, the governmental agency that cried fire before doing the legwork because it was afraid of being blamed in case something actually did happen, the one responsible for magnifying a powerless 20 year old grocery clerk's idiot rantings into a national news story of impending terror and death.

I'm going to shut my mouth before I say anything that I shouldn't, but I'm really, truly sickened by this beaurocratic farce. No citizen is safe. Don't mess with football.
