"This stunning image was taken inside of a small glacier cave on Mt. Rainier. Glacier caves often form on the leading edges of alpine glaciers due to flowing melt water. Sometimes this melt water flows on the surface of the glacier and can fall rather dramatically through a moulin or crevasse to the base of the glacier. These caves are particularly precarious and can collapse without any warning.

According to the photographer, this particular cave was barely big enough to crawl through, and was about 8-10 meters long. In this 8-second exposure you can see the melt water dripping from the top of the cave into the stream below.
