  1. Personally, I would like to be "competent" than "competitive".
  2. That's the first time I've heard of that term (and the reason why I came over in this forum). Guess I'll just follow the link if I am to have some information.
  3. Not everyone can choose their epitaph, liberal or not.
  4. Evil is a broad term, just as 'good' is. Can it be more specific?
  5. Yes, and that report had to choose the "anal stage". From that point on I didn't even consider considering it.
  6. Fire could be taken as "bad" too. We just need to learn how to contain it and use it properly without loss of life and limb (metaphorically).

    Jeux vidéo

I'm not so much into the games themselves, but the movies of WarCraft from beginning to end are just *epic*. And I don't really use the word epic.
  8. Did you hear about the one where scientists turned vodka into diamonds?
  9. Windmills that big are meant for open spaces, not residential front yards. I hear there's a portable version available, kind of a machine more than a stereotype windmill, but it does the job.
  10. Oh, I thought your project is the one that sucks. Followed your link; seems like a nice counterpoint to Disneyfied notions about formal education. I have nothign against education myself but this age's formal ed is just so draining at times. I mean, did Solomon go through standardized formal ed? Did Aristotle? Did Newton? And why don't we see the likes of these men today if formal ed is so great?
  11. Internet access is just like other material things - one needs to master it, and not be its slave.
  12. This so nicely lifted up my mood for the day. Thanks for posting this. I like the music that adds flavor to the penguin's actions. Can you post some more?
  13. As in everything, there should be a balance between expressing one's self and trodding on another's beliefs just for the sake of exercising your right.
  14. I've heard of pilots complaining of a similar problem: an automated "co pilot" who tells them what to do and where to go. Somehow none of the pilots seem happy with the arrangement.
  15. I like the comics Nicolas. Kind of reminds me of a native tribe somewhere in a particular rainforest who thinks giant trees in the forest they live in wake up and uproot in the night, walking all over the forest to seek a spot with more sunlight. (I read it in a National Geographic magazine.) Humans seem to have this things about giant objects coming to life when they're not looking. =)
  16. This made me cry when I was on vacation in Hong Kong. Even from that great distance I seem to feel the pain of the victims. To open fire on helpless, unarmed students younger than you is pure cowardice. Those students didn't wake up that morning to hurt him, the gunman, so what right has he to take away their lives on the basis of his ideals being offended?
  17. Some people will take that seriously.

    Armageddon économique ?

That's quite a term. I never thought to equate economic collapse with an idea as heavy as Armageddon. Admittedly, it has its impact. (Otherwise I wouldn't be here.)
  19. I don't agree with some of the pictures posted here, but I have to admit, these made me laugh!
  20. I've had difficulties in translations myself. If humans have trouble communicating the exact thought across another language, how much more machines and softwares. P.S. SKIT, that bug got me.
  21. Seems like quite a number of people have an interest in the news from the world of no interest…=) Is that an oxymoron? Just goes to show that one can find something interesting in the most mundane of details…if one looks hard enough.
  22. The negative effects and consequences of data mining are quite scary from the viewpoint of the average (and aware) person.
